The Model United Nations of the University of Abuja in continuation of its World Refugee day celebration visited the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Abuja.
The duo discussed the alarming rate of refugee around the world and the need to put all hands on desk to bring this human suffering to an end. Dr. Daiyob, who is the Mission Head of Syria in Nigeria noted that, their are currently 6.5 millions Syrians who have been forced out of their homes since the beginning of the crisis in his country which started 5 years ago. he continued that, though the Government of Syria is doing its possible best to ensure that the liberated places from the hands of the “human hearth eaters” are ones again inhabitable to the people, though, more still needed to done especially to those living outside Syria.
he called upon all well meaning world leaders to put hands together to sincerely and genuinely fight terrorism without lip service or double standard. the idea of fighting terrorism here and aiding them there will never be of any benefit to all of us.
In his response to a question posted by his guests on the stand of the President Assad, he called his guests attention to the fact that, President Assad has consistently repeated it that his faith lies in the hands of Syrians and not some miscreants from one million miles using some mischievous locals to perpetrate their evils. Remember he was an elected President, by his own people, even amid the crisis, he seek re-election and was voted for. if Syrians wanted him out, they could have done that using their vote. its just unfortunate, the information has been vaingloriously distorted and mis-represented. I think Syrians are much more resentful of imposition of all kind than anybody in the world.
the guests and the host brought the meeting to an end when they could not logically comprehend relate the incidents in Yemen where hundreds of people (mostly children) were been killed because of the need to re-instate what they called legal President, yet, here in Syria, an Elected President is been victimized in order to install an illegal Government, its insane! Meanwhile, Dr. Daiyob, who was a former Lecturer at the Damascus University, was quick to educate his guests to bear in mind that International Politics is complicated and comprehensive than what anybody can easily imagined.
it was very interesting, educative and informative to interact with an Ambassador for close to 120minutes
