
The Abuja Model United Nations sets to lunch MUN Program in all Private and Public schools in FCT. This was contained in a statement released by its Secretary General and President of Model United Nations Development Organization (MUNDO) shortly after an executive meeting with the Director of FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB).
M.I. Abdulbakai explained that, MUN program will help to build Global Citizens without border. School children will be trained on various United Nations Systems and its global Peace and diplomatic functions. Students will (in a school by school) be asked to choose a country of their choice, guide to research on the policies of the chosen countries (Economic, Political, Cultural etcetera) and in turn be designated as Ambassadors of those countries.
Abdulbakai explained further that, the program will assist to inculcate the culture of round table negotiation and dialogue in the hearths of the younger generation as against the use of force and violence. This will in no little measure help curb global terrorism. He concluded by thanking the Director of the FCT Secondary Education Board for approving the program and her passion in ensuring sound and quality education in FCT schools. He also thanks the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC, Lagos) and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the trusts, opportunities and unflinching support given to his Organization.
Meanwhile, the secretary General at another point revealed that, efforts is currently underway to establish National MUN Institute and that his Organization has been engaging relevant stake holders in education sector to fast track the process. He opined that Knowledge of diplomacy and International relations is essential to every Nigerian for better and appropriate imaging of country both abroad and home.
