BEING A SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE MUNDO COUNTRY DIRECTOR ON THE OCCASION OF THE NIGERIA’S 57TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY
October 1st of every solar calendar year is a spectacular day to all Nigerians. It is a day of celebration, joy and happiness for been free from all form of direct external control and as well a day of partial assessment and sober reflection over the past. It is also a day of renewing hope for the future and to start it well on a fresh new page if required. The United Nations Organization was created 72 years ago and has since then been holding a General Assembly session where all Heads of State and/or Government come together to discuss their differences on a round table. There should not have been a need for this Assembly to continue annually or to put it this way, the United Nations Organization would have seized to exist had all these Heads of member state think the same way or want the same things. The organization would have also seized to exist if the world is genuinely saved and secured from the threat of ISIS, Al-Kaheedah, Al-Shabaab, Al-Nusra, Boko Haram and the host of them to be subsequently produced by their manufacturers at both organized and un-organized.
To fight this off strongly, the organization brings all Nations together including the mightier and the weaker, the whitish and the blackish, the rich nations and the poor Nations… all to voice out their concerns, grievances and as well to pool their ideas and resources as well as to carry every Nations along in the processes that lead to decision making on issues that concern their existence.
Fellow Nigerians, It is a verifiable fact that our problem lies neither in our tongue nor in our direction of prostration. A Kanuri man has been living and surviving in Enugu State for the past 50 years just as an Ibo man been living and surviving in Sokoto State for the same numbers of years. Yet, at what point in time do the differences in their tongues, culture and religion belief become noticeable to spark ethno-religion crisis? Think it over and you have answer to yourself.
To the East, South, North and Western Nigeria, we have one and only one common enemy which seems stronger than the a hundred and seventy millions of us put together and which to me, is a big strike on our collective faces that calls for immediate retaliatory action. We must all unite our experiences, wills, intellectual endowment and physical might to fight this enemy off. The creator of the heaven and the hearth would not have been mistaken to put abundant oil resources in the South, Animals and other farm products in the North, deep water ocean for navigation in the West and many other industrial and capital resources in other parts of this country. Alas, this wise and smart enemy kept us fighting off our tongues, languages and faith while it busy looting all the resources across the land. Whereas, this same enemy I am talking about speaks all our languages, belong to all our over 250 cultures and traditions, attends mosques, churches and shrines with us, and is originated from the 36 states of our dear Nation.
Fellow compatriots Nigerians and particularly the youths, let us all take the advantage of this Independence Day anniversary to do the needful, we must all undergo a self mental surgery or refurbishment of a kind. Our destiny is in our hands, God only approves and the voice of the man on earth is said to be the voice of the God in heaven.
While we pray for our brothers in South Sudan, Syria and Libya, I wish Nigerians will walk the path of Catalans if at all necessary. I congratulate all MUNDO state Coordinators for your exemplary leadership. You have all demonstrated yourselves as the future hope of this great Nations and I have no doubt that in your hands, this country is well saved and secured. Your diplomatic acumen is commendable. You must match on and never relent in your efforts until this world speaks one Language and exhibit one tradition without necessarily losing out the roots.
I wish you happy Independence Celebration. God bless you all and God bless Nigeria.
